New Vaper Information
What is in e-juice? e-juice contains the following ingredients:
Vegetable Glycerin (VG), Propylene Glycol (PG), Nicotine, and Flavoring.
PG is thinner and tends to provide a stronger throat hit.
VG is thicker, tends to be sweeter, and provides more vapor.
PG, VG, and Flavorings are found in almost everything you consume.
Nicotine is found in food; Nicotine is addictive; Nicotine is not a carcinogen.
Keep your e-cigarette equipment and e-juice away from children and pets.
Estimate for Cigarette to e-juice Nicotine Strength:
If Full Flavor - Then 18mg
If Light - Then 12mg to 18mg e-juice
If Ultra Light - Then 6mg to 12mg e-juice
Using the right nicotine strength will aid in your transition to e-cigarettes. More is not always better. If you opt for a nicotine level too high, you may experience headaches, nausea, and dizziness. If you opt for a nicotine level too low, you will crave nicotine. Having a bottle of higher nicotine strength and a bottle of lower nicotine strength gives you the option of adjusting your nicotine requirements throughout the day.
How much e-juice will I need? This depends on how many cigarettes you smoke each day and what strength nicotine you have in your e-juice. Some people increase their e-juice nicotine level and minimize their e-juice consumption; consider this if you take “Vape Breaks” at work. Others want hand-mouth action and use their e-cig often. They would be using more e-juice and require a lower nicotine level in their e-juice; consider this if you can *vape at will*.
Roughly 2.5ml of e-juices equals 20 cigarettes. Consider starting with 3 to 5 small (10ml or less) bottles of e-juice. When the bottles are half-full, start to think about purchasing more.
Where should I purchase my e-juice and what flavors should I buy? If possible, go to vape shops and ask to sample e-juices. Take water to swish your mouth between samples and stay hydrated. Another option is to purchase e-juice online. Many sites offer small sizes or package deals. This is a good way to see if you’ll like their e-juice and service.
You are used to cigarettes so having a tobacco flavored juice seems logical. You'll want a regular or menthol flavored tobacco, depending on what you smoked. It is unlikely you will find an e-juice tasting exactly like what you smoked.
Having a few other flavors available will keep your taste buds happy. What flavor profile do you like? Desserts, candy, drinks, fruity - there is an e-juice flavor to match. Remember, a few small bottles is a good start.
Sooner or later you'll end up with a juice you stop liking. Hang onto it. It won't spoil. After a month, try it again. Vape it for a couple days and see if it is right for you. If you don’t like it, pass it on to a vaping buddy.
About Your Body: Cigarettes contain more than 600 chemicals, many are poisonous and over 50 are carcinogenic. As you smoke less, or stop smoking, your body is going to react to the loss of these chemicals and poisons. Drink water. Exercise, water consumption, and a balanced diet will help with this transition.
Smoking leads to decreased sense of taste and smell. You will notice a change in your sense of taste and smell shortly after you start vaping. This is normal; after about six months of vaping, you will notice a dramatic improvement in taste and smell.
Some people have a sensitivity to PG. Propylene Glycol (PG) reactions range from scratchy throat, heavy feeling in the chest, itchy skin or blemishes. Try increasing the Vegetable Glycerin (VG) ratio, and decreasing the Propylene Glycol (PG) ratio. Propylene Glycol (PG) reactions can occur almost immediately. However, it is not uncommon for people to develop reactions after a few weeks of PG use. Some people require a 100% Vegetable Glycerin (VG) e-juice.
